Gong Bath (90min)

Taught by Dee Maurice
November 21, 2026 5:30 pm · 1 hour 30 minutes Suitable for beginners
Join Gong practitioner and yoga teacher, Dee Maurice, for a 90-minute Gong Bath.

You might recognise Dee from your Wednesday lunchtime yoga class at Unplugged. Not only is Dee a part of the UP family, but she is also the founder of I AM EMANATIONS – Sound IN Resonance, a Gong Sound Practitioner, and cofacilitator of retreats and women’s circles.

Dee offers sound healing to Brisbane and surrounds in group and retreat settings, 1:1 sessions, and corporate environments.

What to expect in Dee’s Sound Healing?
Sound healing is a practice of using vibration, frequency and resonance as a way of exploring a deeper relationship with ourselves.

Rooted in the yogic understanding that we are more than simply the physical body, a gong sound bath offers an opportunity to journey through the layers of our experience, from the body and breath, through the movements of the mind and towards a quieter, more spacious awareness of self.

Through instruments such as gongs, singing bowls and chimes, sound creates waves of vibration that can be felt as much as they are heard.
The practice asks nothing of us. There is nothing to achieve, fix or become. A gong sound bath simply invites us to experience sound not simply as something we listen to, but as something we can feel and receive through the whole body.

As the layers of sound move around and through us, our attention is gently drawn away from the external world and towards our inner experience. There is also space for silence, allowing each person to meet the sound in their own way and discover whatever arises for them.

As the mind begins to settle, our brainwave activity can shift too, from the busyness of beta, towards the slower rhythms of alpha and theta, and, in deeper states of rest, delta. These changing states can accompany the natural movement inward, where thinking softens and we become more receptive to listening deeply and exploring our landscape within.

As a Gong Sound Practitioner, Dee's role is simply to hold the space, offer the sound and create an environment of stillness where you are ready to receive yourself.

And sometimes, in the stillness, we discover a little more space to come home to ourselves.

Sound Bath Etiquette
Please take a moment to read through our Sound Bath Etiquette to ensure you have the most enjoyable and relaxing experience possible.

Phones:
We love sound, but ringtones and buzzing phones aren’t quite the sounds we’re looking for in this experience. To help create a quiet and uninterrupted space for everyone, please switch your phone completely of for the duration of the sound bath, rather than simply placing it on silent.
Thank you for helping us protect the stillness of the space.

Arrival:
5:20pm for 5:30pm start. Due to the nature of this event, there will be no late arrivals. The doors will be closed on commencement at 5:30pm, so please arrive 10 minutes early to set up your space and settle in.

What to wear:
Comfortable clothing and extra layers to allow for a drop in body temperature as you tap into a deep relaxation, socks are encouraged.

What to bring:
Your favourite yoga mat, a pillow (at the least) and your favourite blanket for padding should you desire a deeply comfortable state of being.
A water bottle, notebook and pen.
In Dee’s words, “When it comes to comfort in a sound bath, there’s no such thing as too much", so don't be shy in bringing your fluffiest blankets and pillow for extra plush comfort as we will be lying down for the duration of the session. We have plenty of props in the studio so this isn't essential if you would prefer to use some of ours, (they’re just not as comfy).

Cancellation Policy:
You can cancel up to 24 hours prior to the scheduled class time for a full refund. Due to the popularity of this class, strictly no credits or refunds will be processed after this time.
